Make this before cold season hits

LIVINGWHOLISTICALLY

Greetings , Wholistic living Community

If you’ve been following me for any amount of time, you know I don’t do “take this one thing and you’ll be fine” wellness advice. But I do believe in having staples in your kitchen that actually work. Fire cider is one of them.

This is a traditional folk remedy apple cider vinegar infused with roots, herbs, and heat. People have been making versions of this for generations to support immunity, digestion, and circulation.

Here’s how to make it.

What you need:

  • 1/2 cup fresh horseradish root, grated
  • 1/2 cup fresh ginger root, grated
  • 1/2 cup fresh turmeric root, grated (or 2 tbsp dried)
  • 1/2 cup white onion, diced
  • 10 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 2 jalapeño or habanero peppers, sliced (seeds in for more heat)
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • Raw apple cider vinegar (Organic)
  • Raw honey to taste

How to make it:

  1. Add all the roots, onion, garlic, and peppers to a quart-sized mason jar. Fill it about 2/3 full.
  2. Pour apple cider vinegar over everything until the jar is full and all ingredients are submerged.
  3. If using a metal lid, put parchment paper or plastic wrap between the lid and the jar ACV corrodes metal.
  4. Store in a cool, dark place for 3 to 4 weeks. Shake it daily or whenever you remember.
  5. After 3–4 weeks, strain through cheesecloth into a clean jar. Squeeze out every drop.
  6. Stir in raw honey to taste. Start with 2 tablespoons and adjust.
  7. Store in the fridge. It lasts for months.

How to use it:

  • 1–2 tablespoons daily as a tonic, straight or diluted in warm water
  • Increase to 1 tablespoon every few hours at the first sign of a cold
  • Add it to salad dressings, soups, or stir-fries if you want to work it into meals

Why it works:
Every ingredient is doing something. Horseradish and peppers open the sinuses and get things moving. Garlic is antiviral and antibacterial. Ginger and turmeric reduce inflammation. Onion supports respiratory health. ACV supports gut pH. And raw honey is antimicrobial and soothes the throat.

This isn’t a magic bullet. But when you combine real ingredients that your body actually recognizes, your immune system has something to work with.

Start it this week and it’ll be ready right before cold season peaks.

And if you keep getting sick, dealing with gut issues, or running on empty no matter what you try that’s not a fire cider problem. That’s a root cause conversation, and that’s exactly what we work on together inside Wholistic Roots. Use the link below to take the FREE symptom decoder assessment.
