Your environment is affecting you more than you think

Greetings Wholistic Community ,

Have you ever left a place, spent some time away from certain people, changed your routine, or even cleaned up your space and suddenly realized…

“I actually feel different.”

Sometimes we spend so much time focusing on what’s happening inside of us that we forget to look at what’s happening around us.

Your environment matters too.

And when I say environment, I don’t just mean where you live.

I mean:

Who you spend the most time around.

What you’re constantly listening to.

What you’re watching and consuming every day.

How much noise and stimulation you’re surrounded by.

The conversations you keep having.

The foods that are easily accessible to you.

Whether your space makes it easy to rest or keeps you constantly switched on.

Even the expectations that exist in the environments you’re part of.

We adapt.

That’s one of the things our bodies and minds are really good at.

But sometimes we adapt to things that aren’t actually supporting us.

You can get so used to being overstimulated that silence feels uncomfortable.

So used to stress that you don’t recognize how tense you are.

So used to certain relationships that you don’t notice how differently you feel when you’re away from them.

So used to your routine that you assume the way you feel is just “normal.”

And sometimes the shift isn’t immediately adding another herb, supplement, practice, or protocol.

Sometimes it starts with looking around and asking:

What in my environment is supporting the person I’m becoming, and what keeps reinforcing the version of me I’m trying to outgrow?

Maybe it’s your physical space.

Maybe it’s your phone.

Maybe it’s your schedule.

Maybe it’s the people around you.

Maybe it’s something small that you already know needs to change.

You don’t have to completely change your life overnight.

Pick one thing.

Create a little more space.

Remove one source of unnecessary stimulation.

Spend more time somewhere you feel grounded.

Put your phone down while you eat.

Step outside without needing something playing in your ears.

Pay attention to how you feel in different environments.

Your body will often tell you more than you think when you give yourself enough space to notice.

Living wholistically isn’t only about what you put into your body.

It’s also about what you continuously surround yourself with.

With love,
Maleeah
Living Wholistically

P.S. This week, pay attention to one environment you spend a lot of time in. Ask yourself one question: How do I usually feel after I’ve been here for a while?
